Education and Training

Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Michigan (2023 – 2025)

Ph.D. Chemistry, Yale University (2018 – 2023)

B.A. Chemistry, Williams College (2014 – 2018)

  • Advisor: Prof. Jimmy A. Blair

Born in Rhode Island, Dan received his B.A. in chemistry from Williams College in 2018. There, he performed honors thesis research with Prof. Jimmy Blair on the synthesis of small-molecule antibiotics. From there, Dan pursued a Ph.D. at Yale University under the supervision of Prof. Jonathan Ellman, where his research focused on the synthesis of new organic methodologies employing Group IX metal catalysis, predominantly in the area of multicomponent, C-H functionalizations. Following graduate school, Dan traveled to the University of Michigan, where he studied the photochemistry of electron-donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes and the design of new photocatalysts. At the same time, he served as a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, teaching a course on Physical Organic Chemistry.

Dan returned to the Northeast in 2025 to begin his independent career at Skidmore College, where he focuses on teaching, research, and mentorship in organic chemistry.
